There are few bands with a more passionate following than Turbonegro. The Norwegian deathpunk pioneers have long since attracted a worldwide following thanks to their glammed-up punk rawk stylings and idiosyncratic double-denim naval style. And every year, the numerous chapters of the Turbojugend – this devoted fanbase – descend on Hamburg for Weltturbojugendtage: a weekend of music, solidarity and minigolf.
The main port of call is, of course, Schlemmereck in the Reeperbahn. This Jugend staple, owned and run by local legend Herbert, welcomes members from all over the world. And sure enough, the Astra beer wells quickly run dry as old comrades reunite and new friendships swiftly form in the crucible of open-minded companionship.
