The grand sand dunes of Erg Chebbi tower over the Sahara and offer a perfect setting to take in the desert’s jaw-dropping scale.
Although the climb up the almost vertical slopes in unforgiving sand is tough, especially after a day trekking on a swaying camel, the views more than compensate: the Sahara stretches over the horizon in shades of red, yellow and orange to create one of Africa’s most stirring sights.
