Snapshot in Time: Following the River Through Tam Coc

With its serene and mystical atmosphere, Tam Coc is sure to enchant all who take the time to explore it.

The karstic rock formations and endless rice fields paint a vivid picture of rural life in northern Vietnam, where visitors can experience a pace infinitely slower than the continual city buzz of nearby Hanoi.

It’s an area ripe for exploration. A sampan ride along the Ngo Dong River offers unparalleled access to the three tunnel-caves who inspired the region’s name – Hang Ca, Hang Giua and Hang Chateau – while those on foot or two wheels will find much to savour as they visit the 15th century Bich Dong pagoda, all the while absorbing the calming atmosphere of this waterlogged scene.
