Lakes
Bodies of water tend to symbolise pretty well the idea of passing through. In the same way that one can rarely see beyond the ocean’s horizon, trying to peer beneath a lake’s surface tends to only intrigue the viewer. They take a deep breath, they glimpse the flourishing ecosystem, and they try to make sense of the scale of things, all before their lungs give out.
Either way, a lake tends to have some kind of lore or history attached to it, as these stories hopefully show.
